I have a super quirky and alternative wedding to share with you today at the amazing Bombed Out Church in Liverpool. I’ve been to my fair share of gorgeous weddings in my time but none come close to the incredible St. Lukes Church, also knows as ‘ The Bombed Out Church‘ in Liverpool. The venue suffered catastrophic damage during the Blitz of 1941. It’s external masonry standing which gives it its breathtaking atmosphere and perfect for any wedding. Overgrown and inaccessible, the bombed out church site lay derelict for over 60 years, before being cleared, and transformed by a series of cultural events, reopening the space to the public. Having become an established venue for theatre, dance, classical and world music, visual art, cinema, as well as alternate and participatory forms of work, the site now stands as a testament to community spirit and the power of the arts to affect change.
Rachel & Paddy had the most spectacular ( windy ) day. The ceremony was every bit of fun as their friends and family joined in and sang along to The Beatles classic, ‘ All you need is love’. Normally after the ceremony I take my couples for romantic walk to get some portraits but this time around it was a little different . Rachel and Paddy were due to fly to Spain for their honeymoon a couple of days after their wedding but the only take they could get the covid test was on their actual wedding day! So we stopped by a nearby client to the swab! This is a covid wedding I will never forget!
The Reception
After the ‘swab’ we headed to their wedding reception at Scale set in the heart of the Liverpool city centre. This unique and quirky venue is location based in the heart of Liverpool. The space boasts a huge amount of natural daylight, exposed brick walls and loads of space for guests to dance the night away. I absolutely adore shooting in my own home of Liverpool. This is truly a wedding I will never forget and I cant wait to share this little preview of this super fun wedding day…..
